About me

Hej, I’m Ben – a freelance designer, weird coffee person, and master sandwich-builder!

I work mostly on websites, motion graphics animations and user interfaces, with the occasional print-related project thrown in. I have experience as a product and graphic designer and have worked for startups and design studios. At the beginning of 2017 I moved to Göteborg, Sweden, where I worked as a freelance designer for five years. Recently I moved back to the Netherlands where I continue my freelancing business.

As a freelancer I like working in close collaboration with my clients and actively involve them in the design process. I consider us as a design team; working together to achieve the same goal, whether it’s a website, animation or user interface. For me this means showing my progress often and asking for feedback a lot. This way clients get to steer the project in the direction they are looking for, and I have a clear idea of what the client wants and receive regular feedback on each round of iterations. I see the end result always as something we achieved, not something I designed.

Where my work is all focussed on digital projects, in my spare time I’m interested in everything analog, especially vinyl records, manual espresso machines, and film photography. I am currently figuring out how to get good pictures out of a  50-year-old camera, and trying to improve my shots with a classic lever espresso machine (I haven’t dared starting with milk based coffee yet).

If you would like to know more, or if you want to work with me, feel free to contact me.
